For us, July always meant a month of sleep deprivation. The television would be moved into the bedroom and we, along with many Australians, would stay up watching the Tour de France into the wee hours of the morning.
Going over to France to watch this great race had been a long-standing dream of ours. But we knew it wouldn’t be easy and would require a lot of planning and organisation.
We started our preparations six months out from the 2012 Tour de France. We spent hours searching the internet for information, looking for advice on the best way to follow the race. We also wanted ideas on how to put together a TdF itinerary, as well as motorhome tips and tricks and information about camping and campsites. But apart from a couple of sites targeted towards grey nomads, we couldn’t find a site that offered free advice to cycling fans like us who were looking to follow a grand tour.
Sure, we managed to work things out along the way. But there were so many times during our holiday where we would say to each other, “I’d wish we knew about this or that”. Thus, we resolved to start a website with all the tips and tricks that we picked up along the way. We wanted our website to be helpful to fellow cycling fans plan and prepare for their own grand cycling tour.
We encourage you to leave comments, feedback and questions; we would be excited to hear from you. Also, if you have any other tips you would like to share, please let us know (email@example.com) so we can let everyone else benefit from your wisdom and experience.
We hope you enjoy the site!
