Review: HUAWEI Wireless Repeater WS320

Are you tired of long reviews? I have realized that many people do not want to read a long analysis, even if it is good, and perhaps that is why I have encouraged myself to approach these tests in a different way, giving special importance to the analysis of the device itself and the conclusions that we can draw from it. .

Leaving aside the gadgets for mobile devices, I have decided to try a WiFi repeater to see if these types of devices are really worth it. In this case the Huawei WS320 (Wireless Repeater) has been the lucky one and I would like to talk about it, from the beginning, as a positive experience and really necessary for certain types of environment.

In case someone doesn’t know what a WIFI repeater I would like to clarify it just in case: These types of devices allow you extend the WiFi coverage of your network without the need for cables (they take the existing WiFi and help to extend it directly).

I would like to comment that Huawei (despite the fact that many of you already know it) is not at all a «Chinese» brand despite having its headquarters in that country. This brand is a leader in the telecommunications market and one of the largest manufacturers in the world.

If you are tired of reading, the best thing is to watch the video that I have made in which I comment on what the WS320 has seemed to me and I will show you in an extensive tutorial how to configure the WiFi repeater automatically and also manually. If, on the other hand, you want to continue reading the written review, all you have to do is continue below.

TECHNICAL SECTION

to talk a little about technical characteristics Let’s mention what this type of adapter supports:

  • Supports the 802.11 b/g/n standard up to 150 Mbps (in the case of the Wifi N network) and the most common encryptions (WEP, WPA, WPA2)
  • Support direct connection by WPS
  • It consumes about 5W (approximately), a quarter of that of a low-energy light bulb.
  • In the box there is talk of some 135 meters of extension of the WiFi network but this will depend, to a great extent, on the obstacles that are in between.

In the box we only find the Wifi repeater and an instruction manual in English (very easy to understand) that details the entire process perfectly. I have taken a look at other reviews and they all talk about how complicated it is to connect this device but the truth is that, as you can see in the video, it is really easy to establish connection by both methods (manual and automatic), it will not take more than 5 minutes to configure the device.

FUNCIONALITY TEST

The WS320 is a really small device and I had doubts about its capabilities until the moment I plugged it into the home power supply. Despite its small size and having an internal antenna, this repeater picks up the WiFi signal very well and increases it around it with great ease.

The signal it emits is quite strong but loses a lot of intensity as it passes through different objects and walls (especially if they are a large width: concrete walls, stone walls, etc.). In any case, this is not something so decisive because the domestic routers that companies usually put in emit an intensity similar to that offered by the HUAWEI repeater.

CONCLUSION

Setting it up is really easyIn the video I show you how to do it in a simple way. Without further objection, I am about to make a fair assessment based on the price of the device and its quality. It’s really nice? Yes, this device perfectly fulfills its purpose and anyone who wants a WiFi network extender economical and, above all, easy to configure you have to choose the HUAWEI WS320.

PROS

  • Useful to extend the Wi-Fi network to points that we previously did not have coverage.
  • Compatible with B, G and N networks up to 150 Mbps.
  • Supports WPS for quick and easy connection.
  • Easy to configure and does not create access points but rather amplifies the network in a simple way.
  • Possibility to connect without PC (and with Reset also without PC).
  • Small size and low power consumption.

CONS

  • It may not be enough for demanding users.
  • It would be nice if it had the possibility to add an external antenna.
  • Instructions in English that can be complicated for those who do not have much knowledge and have to use the manual connection.

SCORE 4/5

Electrogood

If you liked the device you just have to go through MobileFun and buy the device for about 34 euros. It’s worth it if you really need a Wifi booster that works well and has a reduced price. Soon I will be able to try another different and more powerful extender, I would like to know if it is worth it. If you want to follow this battle closely, you just have to be attentive to my YouTube channel and the publications that I will make on the web.
