Step by Step Guide to Exiting HomePod Setup

If you find yourself needing to exit the HomePod setup process, follow these steps to do so safely and without disrupting the device's potential to be set up properly in the future.

1. If the HomePod is currently in the midst of the setup process and you're using an iOS device, press the Home button on your iPhone or iPad. For newer models without a Home button, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to return to the home screen.

2. Open the Home app on your iOS device. This is where you can manage all your HomeKit-enabled devices, including the HomePod.

3. Locate the HomePod that is being set up. It should appear in the list of devices within the Home app with a label indicating that it's in the process of being set up.

4. Press and hold on the HomePod icon or listing within the app. A menu should pop up with various options.

5. Look for an option that says "Cancel Setup" or "Remove Accessory". Tap this option to halt the setup process.

6. A confirmation dialog may appear, asking if you are sure you want to remove the HomePod from the app and stop setting it up. Confirm your choice by tapping "Remove" or "Yes".

7. The HomePod will now exit the setup process. You may see a status light on the top of the HomePod that indicates it has been disconnected or is no longer in setup mode.

8. To completely reset the HomePod and start the setup process from scratch at a later time, you can reset the HomePod by unplugging it, waiting for a few seconds, and plugging it back in. Then, press and hold the top of the HomePod until you hear three beeps and see the spinning white light, indicating it's ready to be set up again.

Remember, exiting the setup process is not the same as resetting the HomePod. If you simply want to pause the setup and return to it later, make sure not to reset the device unless necessary.
